Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. I offer a fee, confidential consultation before scheduling your first therapy session. This gives you an oppotunity to tell me a little about what brings you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
-
I currently provide individual therapy for women ages 18 and older who are physically located in New York or New Jersey at the time of their session.
My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming.
-
At this time, all therapy sessions are provided virtually. This allows you to attend therapy from a private space that feels comfortable for you without having to travel to an office.
-
Individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes.
How often we meet will depend on your needs, goals, and what we decide together.
-
Women come to me for support with trauma and painful experiences, anxiety and overthinking, relationship patterns, boundaries, self-worth, life transitions, and feeling disconnected from themselves.
Sometimes you know exactly what you want help with. Other times, you just know something doesn’t feel right anymore. We can begin there.
-
You don’t have to tell me everything at once.
Trauma-informed therapy isn’t about forcing you to revisit painful experiences before you’re ready. We’ll work at a pace that allows us to build trust and understand what you’re experiencing while developing tools to help you navigate what is affecting you now.
-
My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, which means I don’t believe one type of therapy works for everyone.
Depending on your needs, I may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and person-centered/Rogerian approaches.
We’ll explore what’s happening in your life now while also becoming curious about the experiences, beliefs, emotions, and relationship patterns underneath it.
-
Yes. I accept many major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Anthem/Empre, Optum, UMR, and others.
Insurance coverage varies by plan, so your benefits will be verified before the first session to determine your individual coverage and out of pocket costs.
-
You don’t have to know before we meet.
That’s part of the reason I offer a consultation. you can ask questions, tell me what you’re looking for, and get a sense of how it feels to talk with me.
A therapeutic relationship should feel safe enough for you to be honest while also giving you room to be challenged, grow, and understand yourself differently.
-
We’ll meet for your consultation and talk briefly about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping for.
If we both feel that working together is a good fit, we’ll discuss next steps for scheduling your first session and completing the necessary paperwork.
